Introduction to Aperture, Shutter Speed & Exposure

After the class all attendees will be sent a link to download a color pdf handout with the slides from the presentation. It's a great reference for everything discussed in the class.

This class focuses on the settings fundamental to capturing a proper exposure: the aperture and shutter speed controls of your camera. You'll learn what settings to use to make everything in focus or just have one object sharp. We'll cover how different shutter speeds can be used to blur a moving subject or freeze its motion. Most importantly we'll explore how aperture and shutter speed work together to create an exposure. Other functions discussed in this class include metering options, shooting modes, ISO and an in-depth look at histograms. Whether you want to capture a silky waterfall or stop an athlete in mid-stride, you'll pick up many tips and techniques in this class. This class is designed for photographers who want to go beyond the "Program/Auto Mode" on their cameras and have more control over their photographs.

After a presentation we'll go outside to practice using various exposure settings and modes in the gardens.
